The phases you will go through as a photographer
There are phases every photographer shall get through at one point or another to be a good one. The world of photography is big and one should be patient to take place in this big world.
Every photographer has ups and downs as they start taking photos. If you are feeling lonely, don’t. We are all the same.
There are some stages that I have been through and those phases evolved me.
I have been a photographer for many many years. And, I do continue to evolve. I look back at the photos that I’ve taken over the years, and I see the stages that I have gone through. At some stages I did not linger much but at some others I’ve stayed for 7 years maybe.
The stages I have been through
The beginning stage of my photography career I was obsessed with the camera I used. The type of the camera really mattered for me. I thought I would express myself with the camera I used. I had a Leica. For a very long time I had several models of Leica.
When I decided and was certain that I loved taking photos, I had to decide I will pursue it for a career or as a hobby. Then I dedicated myself to learn the techniques of photography deeply. I tried to absorb as much information as possible. I have joined a club, read books and articles and I respected photography so much that I decided to pursue multiple careers. I would master architecture and photography.
When I became a professional photographer I had the challenge to follow the new techniques and stay up to date. I mastered editing and discovered various techniques. I became more experienced and able to control my technique. You use techniques and your eye will cherish as you grow. And as you develop oru photography you will understand what a good image is.
When you become a full time photographer you will develop existential problems. You will ask yourself who you are and what does your work reflect, or is it good for you or for the world.
When you can understand what a good image is, you can flow your work into good. At this point you can choose to master in photography. Decide what you will take. Food photography, portrait photography, street photography, or architecture maybe.
The last phase
I think this is the one that I am in, and it is the awakening. This is the point that you will decide your goal in photography and have the knowledge to decide if you are good enough or not. You will see that your struggle will show in your work. You will understand that you can express yourself in your work and try to enjoy it. This is the phase that you will start getting praise from others. You can do an art show, you can take photos in an important event, and you will get paid for it. You become steady in your work. You start to produce images that sell and you feel that you have found your way.
Don’t forget, this is nıt the last phase. Photography is just constant work.
Keep up the good work.
