Golden Tips to remember By Anıl Uzun

Photography has been a passion for me for a long time. I do not even remember when I started taking photos, it has been with me for a very long time. I grew up, now I have a profession, I am an architect but I did not give up on photography, I still have the passion to continue with the work I have been doing since I was a child.

Here I will try to give you some tips on photography, the tips that I ‘ve been keeping to myself that helped me a lot in my journey for taking pictures.

Photography has been a very beautiful journey for me. I started and became a professional and it is still a passion play for me. When you do your work passion, it will spark in your photographs. If you feed your skill with passion it will nurture your creativity. This is my GOLDEN tip and believe me it is very precious and you can’t find it on any books or tutorial videos.

For the techniques of photography, you should always know that lighting is very important for the images you take. You need to know. You need to be able to play with the light. You can play with the studio light and you can play with the natural light. If you are shooting at night, you need to play with the flash. At the end of the day photography is capturing the light.

When you are taking photos, take what appeals to you and emphasize the details. To make the detail see you need to use, again, “the light”. Also you need to have a steady hand, use a tripod when necessary. Especially if you are using an analog camera, the level and the steadiness of the camera are very important factors that you should be a master at. To get better, you need to challenge yourself. Try different lights and different levels. Use the technology to test your skills and never get tired of learning.

This tip that I am going to give you is not for experienced but for new photographers. You need to know the big three by heart. The fundamentals of photography are aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Each one is designed to give you the best shoot.  When you truly master the big there you can be the king/queen of photography no matter which camera you use.

Memorize the following pattern:

Larger aperture means more light, but blurs background.

Slower shutter speeds means more light, but you need to keep the camera still if your shutter speed is slow.

Higher ISO means more light, but higher ISO will give your image noise.

If you know what will happen as you change the controls manually you will have no surprise. All of the big three are about light and when you know what will happen if you want more light, you need to know what will be taken away from you.

The last tip is about portraits. When it comes to people, eyes are the key. When viewers are looking at a photograph they connect through the eyes. Eyes will tell the emotion in the photo— sadness, anger, joy. Give the direction to the people to smile or look sharp then you’ll get the best portrait.

These are the golden tips to keep in mind when you are taking photos.
